An often heard of advice for couples in such situations is to keep the lines of communication open. It may sound very basic, but this rings true for couples in long distance relationships. This is probably truer in their case as compared with couples who do not have distance-related concerns in their relationships. To make a long distance relationship work, both parties must strive to keep the lines of communication open to compensate for the lack of physical closeness with each other. By communicating openly, couples strengthen the relationship more and build trust.

If either of the couple cannot open up or share his or her thoughts to the other, that could lead to the eventual disintegration of their relationship. Therefore, ensuring that couples get to talk about their issues, concerns, dreams, and plans with and for each other will guarantee a long and deeply committed relationship.
