Separation and Its Implications About Current Society

With the rise of divorce in the United States, it is time to take another look at what may be some of the implications of this trend. The breakdown of marriage is resulting in some real implications for the labor force as well as traditional family roles. Americans have begun to change what they mean when they think of the typical family.
With the rise of divorce in the United States, it is time to take another look at what may be some of the implications of this trend. The breakdown of marriage is resulting in some real implications for the labor force as well as traditional family roles. Americans have begun to change what they mean when they think of the typical family.
Historically, this was not very common phenomenon in the United States until the twentieth century. Even though the idea of separation after marriage has been around since the Roman Empire, since many of the cultural norms in Western culture are tied to Christian religious beliefs, it's still looked down upon.
Nowadays, family roles may have changed because of the changes in the workforce. In the United States, it is estimated that almost half of all marriages are composed of one or both spouses who were previously married. 2008 saw a failure rate in marriages of close to forty percent.
The last part of the twentieth century saw a persistent increase of women joining the workforce and making a mark outside of their homes. It is not clear that women working outside the home led to more separations or if the increased workforce participation was the result of more separations. Another reason that more and more women are going to work outside of the home might be a simple need for additional money.
Anytime one parent is no longer in the picture it can have a huge impact on everyone one involved, children and adults alike. In the past, it seemed that the law tended to be on the side of the mother, in the case of a separation, but recently we are seeing a new trend in which more fathers are accepting lead custody of the children in question.
Whereas there used to be a very clear delineation between the role of women and role of men within the household, it is now fuzzier.Combined with more women working, some children are taking on more household responsibilities at an earlier age. Household conflicts about parental judgment calls can be one result.
In America, divorce can be expensive and complicated process. Many financial planners now advise couples to consider a prenuptial agreement. Although it isn't romantic, legal and financial planners consider them wise because they add protection of assets if the marriage results in separation. In particular, it can protect the spouse who has the more assets and also allow couples to avoid extensive legal fees.
